Making Cold-Infused Oils

Herbal oils are suitable for external use in massage, as bath oils or for conditioning the hiar and skin. Cold infused oils are simple to prepare and are an effective way to infuse delicate flowerheads such as St. John’s Wort and Chamomile.

Begin by fill a glass storage jar with the flowers or leaves of your chosen dried herb.

Next, pour in a light vegetable oil to cover the herbs - sunflower or grape seed oil work well.

Then, place the jar on a sunny windowsill for a month. Leave it there to steep. Give it a shake every day.

Strain the flowers or leaves out of the oil. For a stronger infusion, renew the herbs in the oil every two weeks, removing the used flowers or leaves each time.

Pour into stoppered bottles to store.
